Museum Hosts Free Screening of Acclaimed Documentary 'Fastball' on Friday
Exclusive Showing in Grandstand Theater Added to Hall of Fame Weekend Lineup
(COOPERSTOWN, NY) – On the weekend where baseball’s biggest legends return home to Cooperstown, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will showcase some of the game’s most breathtaking pitchers – and pictures – with the screening of the documentary Fastball.
Produced by National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Board member Thomas Tull (the producer of 42), along with Philip Aromando and Mike Tollin and directed by Jonathan Hock, Fastball explores the history and science behind baseball’s foundational pitch and features Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Bob Gibson, Goose Gossage and Nolan Ryan as well as legends Derek Jeter and Justin Verlander. Narrated by Kevin Costner, the feature-length film explores the question of who threw the fastest pitch of all time.
Admission to the Fastball screening at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in the Museum’s Grandstand Theater is free with Museum admission.
The last showing of the Grandstand Theater’s Baseball Experience film will be at 5 p.m. on Friday.
The screening of Fastball is just part of Induction Weekend in Cooperstown as Craig Biggio, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martínez and John Smoltz are enshrined as the Class of 2015 at the Baseball Hall of Fame. The Induction Ceremony takes place at 1:30 p.m. on July 26 on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center, one mile south of the Hall of Fame on Susquehanna Avenue. Admission to the Induction Ceremony is free.
The 2015 Induction Ceremony will be televised live on MLB Network, will be broadcast nationally on Sirius XM Radio Channel 89 and will be available via a webcast at www.baseballhall.org.
