2006 Hall of Fame Game
For the eighth time in Hall of Fame Game history, rain shortened the game, stopping the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds after just 2 ½ innings of play covering 43 minutes on May 15, 2006.
At the time, the Reds were leading 3-0. The game marked the earliest calendar date the Hall of Fame Game was ever played.
Minor leaguers Chris Dickerson, Quinton McCracken and Jason LaRue each recorded a hit for the Reds. Cincinnati pitcher Eric Milton held Pittsburgh hitless and scoreless through the first two innings, recording two strikeouts.
It was the 60th time the Hall of Fame Game was played.
Pirates shortstop José Hernández won the pregame Home Run Derby, blasting a record-tying eight home runs.
